Description

Job purpose

This position will support efforts at multiple sites within the Boulder and Denver areas.  Primary job roles will include working with a team of engineers within and Agile environment to design, implement, and supporting system automation and monitoring efforts. Day to day efforts will include system administration of VMWare & Linux environment, participating in automation design, implementation, and support efforts, adhering to system configuration control mechanisms, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the automation and monitoring tools. The program vision is to serve as a research and development incubator for new and innovative remote sensing algorithms, user interfaces, and data analytics to serve the objective to exploit OPIR data from the legacy systems to produce actionable information in support of the battlespace awareness/technical intelligence (BA/TI) mission as well as other emerging mission areas (e.g. civil and environmental).

Required Qualifications and Skills

6 plus years of experience in a systems administration role with a record of steadily increasing responsibilities

Real world experience and proficiency with automation tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible) and configuration management (git)

Real world experience and proficiency with monitoring tools (Elastic Stack, SolarWinds, Sensu, Nagios)

Proficient with Ruby, Python, and YAML

Experience with management of virtualization, cloud and container technology (VMware workstation/vSphere/vCenter/ESXi, AWS EC2/S3/Glacier, Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift)

Proficiency with Windows and RHEL administration (Windows 7/10/Server 2016, RHEL 6/7)

Proficiency with VMware vSphere/ESXi 6

Experience with shell scripting languages (e.g., BASH)

Working knowledge of security assessment/compliance products (HBSS, ACAS, OpenSCAP, ePO, SCC)

Understanding of network fundamentals (IP, Ethernet)

Experience with virtualized operating system concepts and administration

Familiarity with network administration of routers, switches, and firewalls

Strong Troubleshooting skills

Strong Interpersonal skills
Must be able to work in a production/operational environment


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Team leadership experience

Experience within an Agile framework environment

Experience with automation and deployment of virtualized platforms (VMs, Containers, other)

Familiarity Windows Active Directory domains and Windows server administration

Experience with storage administration and provisioning familiarity

 

Education and Training Required

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education

10+ years of professional experience in a technical field

Certifications
Security +

One or more of: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Server, VMware Certified Associate (VCA), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

 

Working conditions
Travel 0%; Full-time, with mixed work location between BAFB, Aurora, and Boulder locations
