Job Title

  • DevOps Engineer

Position Responsibilities


  • Build solutions to automate and monitor development through operations

  • Deploy and maintain custom, high-performance, software applications and systems

  • Maintain legacy applications, including refactoring, writing test code, implementing changes and algorithm updates, participating in code reviews and agile process

  • Contribute to NDP's software development process, practices, and infrastructure improvement

  • Provide software engineering surge support as directed by NDP's leadership

  • Support NDP’s customers software development objectives


Minimum Security Clearance

  • DoD Secret

  • Must be a US Citizen



Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration (RHEL preferred)

  • Experience with automation/configuration management/monitoring platforms (Chef and Sensu preferred)

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (Ruby & Shell/bash preferred)

  • Experience with virtualization, cloud providers, and containers (VMware vSphere, Linux KVM, AWS preferred, and Mesosphere DC/OS preferred)

  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services

  • Knowledge of best practices and of systems operations in an always-up, always-available service


Additional Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Expert in one of: Ruby/Rails, JavaScript/NodeJS, C++/Boost, or Java/Spring

  • Experience with: AMQP / RabbitMQ, Load Balancing, Health Checks, Distributed Data Stores, Kickstart, SDN, YUM/RPM, DNS, LDAP/AD, SSH, SNMP

  • Network programming and network protocols

  • Open source software development

  • Development tool chains (git, maven, continuous integration, automated testing, make)

  • Certifications

  • Security +

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

  • Education and Training Required

  • Four year college (Bachelor’s Degree) or higher. Computer Science degree preferred.

  • Minimum Years of Experience

  • 5+
